In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Muddy Creek Farms is
taking the following precautions to protect both our livestock and our families:
Observing quarantine procedures for all non-essential activities. This includes ceasing all business related activity within our home. See below for an explanation of our new animal pick up protocol.
Consistent and frequent use of sanitizing products such as rubbing alcohol and iodine, in addition to practicing social distancing when essential activities such as grocery shopping must be carried out.
Avoidance of all carry out and fast food.
All hedgehogs are kept in a secure room, separated from our daily activities.
Frequent hand washing before and after handling any animal.
As usual, all animals are observed daily for signs of illness. However, it is not believed hedgehogs can carry or transmit the virus at this time.
03/23/2020 - UPDATE: Due to Michigan's recent shelter in place order, we are required by law to halt all non-virtual business related activity until further notice, including animal pick ups and supply shipments. We will still be available by appointment for virtual visits via live video conferencing.
We do anticipate we will have hedgehogs weaning and ready to go to their new homes throughout the month of April. These babies will still be offered to our waiting list and any remaining babies will be listed on our available babies page. However, pick up appointments will be considered pending until this order is lifted. Pick up of any reserved animal will be required within 7 days from the time normal business activity resumes. Any family that has reserved a hedgehog will be kept up to date via email as information becomes available to us. Upon being released from this order, we will resume business according to out 03/22/2020 update below.
03/22/2020 - Muddy Creek Farms is no longer accepting on-site appointments of any kind in order to observe recommended quarantine procedures and to be an active participant in "flattening the curve." Instead, we are limiting our appointments to pick up / drop off only and such appointments will take place at the following location:

WHAT IT ALL MEANS...
In order to continue providing our families with the same level of support, we will now replace our Meet & Greet appointments, as well as the informational aspects of our pick up appointments, with an interactive Intro to Hedgehogs video conference. During our live conference we will be discussing general hedgehog care and husbandry, go over handling techniques, perform a nail clipping demonstration, and answer any additional questions you may have about hedgehog related topics or our breeding practices. Anyone purchasing a hedgehog from us will receive a direct invite to a live conference that will take place at a designated time for their specific pick up group. If you can't make it, no worries! You can always watch at a later time and email or call with any questions that may not have been covered.
For those who do not have a pending waiting list deposit and have not purchased a hedgehog from us in the past, individual and personalized Meet & Greet appointments lasting up to 30 minutes will still be offered online via live video conference for a small fee. Your appointment may be scheduled online through our online scheduling app. Upon approval of your appointment request, you will receive an invite in your email containing a link to join a one on one video conference for the date and time your appointment was requested.
We are no longer offering supply pick up aside from supplies which are pre-ordered and picked up at the time of an animal purchase. Most supplies are still able to be shipped directly to your door.
We will soon be working on posting a series of videos which cover basic topics, such as handling and nail clipping. These videos will be uploaded to our website under the Care & FAQs section as they become available. Please bear with us as we navigate to figure out this new system and as always, please never hesitate to email or call with questions.
