SKUNK PURCHASE POLICIES
All skunk will be listed as "available for deposit" between 5-7 weeks of age. Babies are generally considered weaned and ready to go by 9-12 weeks of age.
All skunks will be sold descented and on a spay or neuter contract unless otherwise discussed. If you would like to purchase a skunk for breeding purposes, please contact us.
All families will be required to show proof of proper permits before they will be allowed to take home their skunk. If you are located in Michigan, the DNR permit information and application may be found here.
All families must fill out and sign our Purchase & Sales Agreement before picking up their skunk. The agreement must be completed by an individual 18 years of age or older. We no longer accept paper copies. All forms must be submitted electronically via our secure, encrypted online form.
All skunks kits will come with a 1 year genetic health guarantee. We do not offer any guarantee in regards to size, temperament, color or markings, or longevity. We do our best to breed skunks that are of good temperament and health. We will not breed any skunk which displays an unusually aggressive nature, nor will we breed skunks that are not in perfect health, or those with known genetic issues in their lineage.
Placing Your Deposit
Ready to place a deposit on one of our babies? A deposit is required to hold the skunk of your choice and is accepted via PayPal, credit, or money order in the amount of $100.00. You may place your deposit directly through our website if using credit, debit, or PayPal as your payment method.
Your deposit will apply towards your total purchase price (excluding PayPal fees). The remaining balance, including sales tax, is to be paid by cash, PayPal, or credit card upon pick up. We do not accept checks.
Deposits apply towards the total purchase price of your skunk, less any taxes or PayPal fees,
Deposits are non-refundable. However, you may always transfer your deposit to another available baby of equal age, or to one that is older. You may not transfer your deposit to a different species.
Deposits will hold the skunk of your choice for up to one week. If you do not pick up your skunk within that time, you will forfeit your deposit and the animal will be listed as available. In some cases, we may be able to hold your skunk for a longer period of time, depending on the circumstances and providing we have enough space. All skunks being held past 1 week must be paid in full and an additional $5 holding fee per day will be added to your total.
If you are interested in being placed on our waiting list for upcoming skunk litters, please fill our Skunk Waiting List Application. We are not currently accepting paid deposits at this time.
Waiting list applications are treated on a first come first served basis. As new babies are posted, those on the waiting list will be given first opportunity to pick a baby in the order applications were received, as is shown on our waiting list page.
Each family will be given 1 hour to contact us and place their deposit before we move on to contacting the next family in line.
Placement on our waiting list for skunks does not guarantee availability, but merely serves as a way to contact interested parties in a fair way.
Interested families may also join our waiting list to be updated when new skunks are posted as available for deposit. Please note you will also receive emails regarding other species.
Deposits are non-refundable and shall be in the amount of $100. We are not responsible for ensuring you have obtained proper permits. There will be no refunds given if you fail to obtain your permit before the time of pick up. Once your deposit has been received, we will reserve the skunk of your choice and it will be moved to our reserved skunks page. You may then schedule an appointment via our website for pick up. All skunks must be picked up within a week of the initial deposit date. Failure to pick up within this time will result in a forfeit of deposit and the skunk will again be listed as available without any notice. In some cases, we may be able to hold your skunk for an extended period of time provided the remaining balance has been paid in full. An additional $10 holding fee will be applied to your total for each additional day the skunk remains in our care.
In case of an unexpected event, if the skunk which you have placed a deposit on should become unavailable due to death or injury, you will then be given first choice of remaining babies if available, or you may choose to have your deposit refunded in full.
Restrictions & Permits
No skunk will be sold to any family that does not hold the appropriate permits for skunk ownership. We will not sell skunks to families living in a state or area in which they are not legal to own, or it is not legal to import.
For more information regarding permits and legal status, please contact your local DNR.
Picking Up Your Skunk
When you pick up your skunk, we will spend a considerable amount of time answering your questions, introducing you to your new pet, and walking you through our contract and paperwork if necessary. At this time we will need to physically see your DNR permit or any applicable paperwork. For those who have never owned a skunk before, this may be anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour or longer, depending on how comfortable you are with your new pet and how many questions you have. We want you to leave confident in your knowledge and understanding of skunk behavior in order to make your experience as a new owner a great one!
Please understand that in addition to breeding skunks, we also have other pets. They may or may not be inside our home at the time of your visit. If you are afraid of large dogs, please let us know in advance so we may try to accommodate this situation. In addition to the dogs, we also have cats, rabbits, hedgehogs, and various farm animals. We like to warn people of this for allergy reasons. Please understand that we cannot bring our babies outside to you for viewing.
We are happy to ship our skunks via airlines to legal states. Prices are subject to distance, location, and timing, but generally run around $300 - $400. Again, we cannot ship skunks to states where they are illegal or there are restrictions regarding imports. Please contact us for further information if you are seeking to have to one of our babies shipped to you.
If you would like to set up a time to come meet our skunk kits, or if you would prefer to pick your skunk in person, please schedule your appointment online via the "Schedule an Appointment" tab. However, please know that without a deposit, we cannot guarantee that any particular baby will be available at the time of your visit.
For your own safety and for the safety of our animals, we generally do not allow visitors to interact with our adult skunks. Skunks that have not been altered have different tendencies and personality issues than skunks raised strictly as pets. However, we have no issue brining an adult skunk out for viewing if you would like to get a general idea as to what they will look like as an adult.
We expect our buyers to have done their homework regarding skunk ownership and expect they are ready to make one of our skunks a permanent part of their family. However, we understand that sometimes, things just do not work out as planned.
We will always take back any of our skunks at no compensation, regardless of age or health status, but do not offer any refunds to do so. We do offer an exchange policy. If you are unhappy with the particular skunk you have chosen, we will exchange that skunk for one in the closest age range possible. In the event that there is a waiting list, you would then be placed back on that list and would be given the option to pick a new baby once those on the list before you have chosen. In order to do an exchange, the original skunk must be returned to us within 3 days of purchase.
All skunks will come with a 1 year genetic health guarantee.
